Tagoma proves devastating in combat, shrugging off Piccolo's punch without flinching and tearing off the Namekian's arm before Gohan intervenes. Tagoma boasts that four months of being beaten nearly to death by Frieza and rebuilt in the regeneration tank have given him a body harder than steel. Just then, Gotenks arrives and slams into Tagoma with a flying headbutt to the groin, temporarily flooring him. The fusion wears off almost immediately, embarrassing both boys in front of Frieza, who notes their resemblance to Goku and the Future Trunks who once killed him.

Ginyu's Return

While Tagoma writhes on the ground, the frog that had been hiding in Jaco's ship hops over and scratches the word "change" into the dirt in an alien script. Tagoma reads it aloud, triggering Captain Ginyu's signature Body Change technique. Ginyu seizes Tagoma's powerful body while Tagoma is trapped as a frog. The reborn captain approaches Frieza, explains his long suffering since Namek, and pledges his loyalty once more. Frieza is pleased to have his most faithful soldier back.

Piccolo's Sacrifice

Ginyu tears through Tien, Roshi, Krillin, and Piccolo in rapid succession, relishing Tagoma's superior physique. Gohan steps up but struggles until desperation forces him to ascend to Super Saiyan. In that form he quickly overpowers Ginyu, but the display of Saiyan defiance triggers Frieza's rage, reminding him of Goku on Namek. Frieza fires a barrage of Death Beams at Gohan. As the final beam streaks toward the exhausted half-Saiyan, Piccolo throws himself in its path.

Frieza's fury at Gohan mirrors his breakdown on Namek when Goku first challenged him. The parallels are deliberate: a young Saiyan defies him, Super Saiyan energy fills the air, and Frieza lashes out with the same Death Beam technique that killed Krillin decades earlier.
