Biography and Story Role

Spike, also called Akkuman in Japanese, is a devil hailing from Hell who serves as one of Fortuneteller Baba's arena fighters. He once held the position of her strongest warrior before Grandpa Gohan was added to the roster and bumped him down a rank. His sister is Majon, another monster-type figure from the demon world.

During the Fortuneteller Baba Saga, Spike faces the young Goku in Baba's tournament. His signature attack, the Devilmite Beam, amplifies any trace of evil within a target's heart until it causes them to explode. The technique is devastating against most opponents, but Goku, whose heart is completely pure, proves immune. Unable to find any darkness to exploit, Spike is defeated decisively.

He briefly reappears during the King Piccolo Saga and is later killed when Kid Buu destroys the Earth. He is among those revived afterward but meets his end again during the events of Age 779.
