Discovery and Significance

The Paradise Herb grows exclusively within the Forest of Terror, a dangerous and mysterious woodland that assaults intruders with illusions of their worst fears. The herb itself is unremarkable in appearance, but its restorative properties are extraordinary: consuming it can extend a person's lifespan by centuries.

Master Roshi sent Goku and Krillin to retrieve the herb, motivating them with a false promise that he would teach them a secret technique to instantly boost their energy. Inside the Forest of Terror, the two warriors were forced to battle illusory versions of opponents from their past. After overcoming these phantoms, including a vision of Super Shenron, the Paradise Herb sprouted in large quantities throughout the forest.

Goku and Krillin gathered the herbs and delivered them to Roshi, who eagerly consumed several handfuls and declared he could live for another thousand years. The revelation of the Paradise Herb provides a likely explanation for Roshi's extraordinary longevity; he had already been alive for over three hundred years by the time of the original Dragon Ball series.
