Master Roshi gets more specific about the woman he wants Goku to bring him, and the boy returns with a genuinely pretty companion who turns out to have an unexpected twist. Meanwhile, a short monk named Krillin shows up at Kame House with his own request to be trained.
After the disaster of the muscular lady, Roshi sits Goku down and shows him pictures, carefully laying out the exact type of young woman he is hoping to meet. Goku nods along and flies off again on Nimbus, determined to get it right. When he comes back, the woman on the cloud behind him is slender and genuinely beautiful, and Roshi is thrilled. He announces that the first lesson of Goku's training will be to retrieve the girl's panties.
The request is complicated by a surprise. The woman cheerfully informs them that she is wearing only a shirt, which is enough to give Roshi an instant nosebleed. Forced to demonstrate his technique in person, the hermit walks up and politely asks if he may touch her chest. The pretty face above the waist is attached to a mermaid's tail below, and the mermaid responds to his request with a sharp punch to the jaw. Roshi picks himself up off the sand and reframes the humiliation as a teaching moment, lecturing Goku that a real martial artist must learn to absorb blows without flinching.
As the three of them discuss finding yet another woman, Goku spots a small boat approaching the island with a bald boy aboard. The newcomer leaps ashore enthusiastically and immediately plants his head in the sand. Goku pulls him free, and the boy introduces himself as Krillin, a young martial artist who has come specifically to ask Master Roshi to take him on as a student.
Roshi initially brushes Krillin off the same way he first brushed Goku off, but Krillin produces an adult magazine as a gift and the hermit's resolve collapses instantly. Roshi agrees to train him, on the condition that Krillin first help Goku complete the original assignment. The monk hops onto the Flying Nimbus and falls straight through it, which forces him to admit that his real dream is simply to become popular with girls.
