Fresh off his victory over Giran, Goku fields the announcer's silly questions before Krillin walks out to face the mysterious Jackie Chun. The old master puts on a show for the crowd, but when the match actually starts, Krillin learns he cannot even see the punches coming.
Standing in the ring after his bizarre victory over Giran, Goku watches his defeated opponent trudge away while the announcer calls Krillin up for a post-match interview. Krillin asks why Goku never once mentioned having a tail, and the boy casually explains that it had simply fallen off at some point. When the announcer lifts the microphone toward him, Goku stares at it, puzzled by the object, before eventually getting the hang of it. A quick exchange reveals that Goku is twelve rather than the fourteen he has been telling everyone. The crowd finds the whole conversation charming. When the announcer asks whether the newly grown tail is real, Goku cheerfully turns around and drops his pants to prove it. Finally the announcer asks which dojo the two trained under, and Krillin proudly replies that they come from the Turtle School. The name electrifies the arena, because Master Roshi is known throughout the martial world as the God of Martial Arts.
Back in the waiting area, Yamcha confronts Jackie Chun with his theory, pointing out the shared face, matching skill, and identical taste in women. Chun politely denies everything and heads back to the stage when his match is called. Taking the announcer's microphone, he launches into a silly little song and dance, and Goku happily joins in from across the ring.
When the actual bout begins, Krillin opens with a fast combination, pressing forward with everything he has. Jackie dances through the barrage effortlessly before finally blocking the last blow, admitting that the monk has forced him to put in real work. Then Chun answers with a single punch of his own, and Krillin is sent crashing into the wall. Goku and Yamcha are stunned. Rubbing his head, Krillin confesses that he never even saw the fist coming.
