Launched from the ring by Krillin's dirty trick, Jackie Chun unleashes a signature Turtle School technique to save himself, sparking fresh suspicion about his true identity. After the dust settles, Yamcha keeps searching for the proof that would confirm what everyone is thinking.
The chapter opens with Jackie Chun plummeting toward the grass after Krillin's panty gambit caught him flat-footed. With no other way to keep himself inside the boundary, he cups his hands and fires a Kamehameha downward, the recoil nudging him safely back onto the tiles. The technique sends a visible wave across the arena and draws gasps from the spectators, who are certain they have seen that exact wave before. As Jackie lands and prepares to close the match, Krillin charges at him in desperation. Jackie sidesteps the rush cleanly, and the young monk cannot stop himself in time, slamming his head into the stone gate of the ring. Chun teases him for the misstep, which only makes Krillin angrier. On the next pass, Jackie vanishes from in front of Krillin, reappears behind him, and delivers a precise double chop to the sides of his neck. The monk drops, and the announcer's ten count runs out, giving the win to Jackie Chun.
With the match decided, Yamcha refuses to let go of his theory. He marches up to Jackie Chun and tries to physically yank a wig off the old man's head, which only earns him a painful tug on real hair. Changing tactics, he pulls Goku aside and reminds him that his nose can track any scent. Goku obediently sniffs at Jackie, but the old fighter has doused himself in cologne, masking whatever natural aroma Master Roshi would carry.
Before Yamcha can try anything else, the announcer's voice cuts across the grounds, summoning Goku and Nam to the platform for their semifinal bout. The chapter ends with Yamcha staring after Jackie Chun, still stuck on the question of whether this mysterious competitor really is the old hermit in a clever disguise.
