Between the semifinals and the championship bout, Jackie Chun quietly reveals the secret behind his mask to the one opponent who might appreciate it most. Then the final match begins, and the disguised master steps forward to meet his own young student.
With Goku confirmed for the championship round, the tournament enters a short intermission while the stadium resets. Jackie Chun quietly seeks out Nam and offers him a Capsule containing a small car that can carry fresh water back to his drought stricken village. Nam is stunned that a stranger would know about his situation at all, so Jackie drops the act just long enough to admit the truth: he is Master Roshi in disguise, and part of his training is learning to read the hearts of the people around him.
Roshi explains that he entered the tournament under a false identity specifically to test Goku and Krillin. Letting them believe their teacher was absent forces them to rely on their own discipline, and facing a powerful unknown opponent in the bracket is the only way to measure how far they have come. Nam accepts the Capsule gratefully and leaves with his gift.
Back in the waiting area, Yamcha keeps pestering Jackie Chun about the rumor that he is really Roshi under a wig. Annoyed, Jackie points out into the audience where the Turtle Hermit appears to be sitting in plain view, a decoy arranged as a repayment from Nam. Convinced he was mistaken, Yamcha drops the subject and lets the fighter head toward the ring.
The announcer calls for the final match of the World Martial Arts Tournament. Goku and Jackie Chun take their places across from one another, and the crowd roars as the bell rings. The chapter closes on its final panel with Jackie already in motion, launching the opening attack of a bout that neither of them plans to lose.
