The Kamehameha

Manga ChapterCh. 47

The championship match opens with Jackie Chun intent on ending things quickly, but Goku refuses to stay in the air or out of the ring. The exchange builds toward a Kamehameha duel that leaves the entire stadium frozen in open disbelief at what a child just pulled off.

A Ring Out Averted

Jackie Chun charges in immediately, but Goku leaps skyward to slip past him. Jackie tracks the boy through the air and lands a clean strike against his back, launching him well outside the ring boundary. The announcer is already winding up to call the bout when Goku reappears, held aloft by a small helicopter blur of motion at his waist. He has wrapped his tail into a spinning blade and is using it as a makeshift propeller to stay airborne long enough to glide back safely to the ring floor before the count can even begin.

Turtle School Heritage

Landed and unharmed, Goku proposes something audacious. He wants to see Jackie Chun attempt the Kamehameha up close. Jackie agrees, partly to teach a lesson about the weight of the technique, convinced that a boy this young could not possibly channel the wave on his own. He cups his hands, settles into the familiar stance, and begins gathering his ki for what he assumes will be a one sided demonstration of Turtle School power.

Two Waves, One Impact

To the stadium's shock, Goku mirrors the pose perfectly and begins charging his own Kamehameha in time with Jackie's. The two fighters release the attacks at exactly the same moment, and the beams slam into each other in midair. The collision blossoms into a wall of light that shoves both martial artists backward across the ring without seriously hurting either of them. Dust and splinters rain across the platform.

Recalculating

Silence grips the audience. No one in the stands expected a child to reproduce the Turtle School's signature technique with enough force to neutralize a cast from its aged master. Jackie picks himself up, brushes off the daze, and begins quietly considering what he will have to do next to actually put this student down for the count.
