The Karin Sanctuary

Manga ChapterCh. 84

The General Blue arc gives way to a sacred grove watched over by a spear-wielding guardian named Bora and his young son Upa. Captain Yellow of the Red Ribbon Army has been struggling to take their Dragon Ball, and now Commander Red is on the verge of calling in the infamous assassin Tao Pai-pai.

Commander Red Runs Out of Patience

Goku rides Kinto-Un toward the west, wondering if the next ball on the radar could be his grandfather's Four-Star keepsake. At Red Ribbon Headquarters, Staff Officer Black reports that Goku is heading directly toward Captain Yellow's current operation, where the hunt for another Dragon Ball has stalled. Commander Red is unimpressed and makes it clear that excuses are no longer acceptable.

Bora Defends the Holy Land

Deep in the forested Karin Holy Land, a towering Native American warrior named Bora stands guard in front of a distant tower, spear in hand. Captain Yellow, disguised in his anthropomorphic tiger form, demands the Dragon Ball and laughs off the warning to leave. Bora hurls his spear and pins a soldier to a tree, then wades through the rest of the unit. Bullets bounce off his skin as he punches one attacker, hurls another into the trunks, and dispatches more with kicks and jabs. Yellow orders a retreat and climbs back into his biplane.

Goku Saves Upa

Radioing headquarters, Yellow learns he has one final chance before Red hands the contract to Tao Pai-pai. Desperate, the captain swoops down and snatches Bora's small son Upa, who had been roasting a fish by a fire. Yellow threatens to kill the boy unless the Dragon Ball is surrendered, and Bora refuses to cower before the coward in the sky. Just then Goku arrives on Kinto-Un, spots the Red Ribbon insignia, and leaps onto the plane to deck Captain Yellow right out of the cockpit. As Upa tumbles into the air, Goku swoops in and catches him safely on the golden cloud. At headquarters, the radio cuts to silence, and Commander Red gives the order to call Tao Pai-pai.
