Tien Shinhan swats Yamcha's Kamehameha out of the sky with chilling ease, then ends the match with a brutal finisher that leaves the desert bandit with a broken leg. The crowd is stunned, Goku is furious, and the cold newcomer all but declares the Turtle School beneath him as the second match is called.
Yamcha's completed Kamehameha roars toward Tien Shinhan, but the three-eyed fighter plants his feet and knocks the energy wave off course with bare hands, sending it crashing into one of the nearby tournament buildings. Before Yamcha can recover, Tien appears beside him in midair, drives a kick into his ribs, and hurls him back down to the ring. The impact alone knocks Yamcha senseless, but Tien is not finished. He descends after his opponent and lands knee-first on Yamcha's outstretched leg, snapping it with a sickening crunch.
Goku sprints into the arena as the announcer rushes over, shaken by what he has just witnessed. Tien only smirks and demands the official verdict, which the announcer stammers out: Yamcha cannot continue, so the victory belongs to Tien. Puar transforms into a flying carpet and, with help from Goku and Krillin, carries the unconscious Yamcha toward a hospital. Bulma hurries after them, leaving the remaining Turtle School students seething. Tien strolls past, coolly telling Goku he should be grateful that this was not a lethal beating, then predicts that the little monkey will never reach the finals.
From the stands, Master Shen cackles to himself, certain that Master Roshi must be losing his nerve after such a display. The announcer then calls the second match, pitting Jackie Chun against the returning Man-Wolf. Backstage, Chiaotzu flashes Tien a peace sign, but Tien dismisses the result as predictable, though he admits he expected more spine from the Turtle School. He tells Chiaotzu that Yamcha was likely Roshi's strongest pupil, which means Chiaotzu should comfortably take second place in the tournament behind him.
