King Piccolo dispatches Tambourine to hunt down Cymbal's killer while the demon continues his own gruesome mission, slaughtering tournament veterans one by one. After brutally finishing off Giran and crossing his name off the list, Tambourine changes course toward Goku and Yajirobe, setting up an inevitable rematch with the boy who has a personal score to settle.
King Piccolo seethes over Cymbal's death and contacts Tambourine through telepathy, ordering him to track down the killer. Tambourine is already busy with his own mission. He has cornered Giran, a former World Martial Arts Tournament competitor, outside a cave in a mountainous area. Two frightened panda villagers watch from a window as Tambourine toys with the reptilian fighter. Giran boasts about his signature move and spits out a glob of Merry-Go-Round Gum, binding Tambourine in the sticky substance. The apparent victory lasts only seconds. Tambourine flexes and shatters the gum effortlessly, leaving Giran stunned and defenseless.
Tambourine flies forward and drives his arm straight through Giran's stomach, killing him instantly. After licking the blood from his hands, he tears up Giran's poster and checks his list. Six martial artists are now dead. The next name is Yamcha. Before Tambourine can pursue that target, Piccolo's telepathic voice redirects him to the coordinates where Cymbal fell. Pilaf, watching Piccolo seemingly talk to no one, finds the behavior odd until Mai explains it is telepathy. Tambourine abandons his current route and heads straight toward Goku and Yajirobe.
Back at the campsite, Yajirobe complains that his earlier meal was not enough. Goku warns him that Piccolo's forces will return for the Dragon Ball around his neck. Yajirobe bristles at Goku mispronouncing his name. Goku mentions that Yajirobe's voice sounds like his dead friend Krillin's. Yajirobe takes this as a compliment until Goku describes Krillin as bald with no nose, at which point Yajirobe calls the kid a freak. Goku explains he needs the Dragon Ball to wish Krillin back to life, but before he can say more, both of them spot Tambourine soaring overhead. Yajirobe is excited at the prospect of another meal. Goku, however, recognizes this creature without question: this is the one who killed Krillin and destroyed his Flying Nimbus. He calls Tambourine down, and the demon recognizes the furious boy staring up at him.
