Furious over the deaths of Cymbal and Tambourine, King Piccolo decides to punish their killer in person. Master Roshi and Tien chase a Dragon Ball of their own, plotting to steal Piccolo's stash, while Goku unknowingly stands in the path of the ancient demon about to drop from the sky.
Aboard Pilaf's flying base, King Piccolo fumes over his fallen warriors and promises to repay the killer in full. Emperor Pilaf frowns at the radar and sees something odd: four Dragon Ball signals have merged together and are speeding toward a fifth. Piccolo realizes another party is gathering the orbs, yet he remains unbothered. Since he already possesses one, the hunters can never complete the set. He decides to let them do the legwork and simply pluck the balls from their corpses afterward.
Inside a Capsule Corporation aircraft, Master Roshi and Tien Shinhan review their lucky run. Piccolo's obsession with exterminating martial artists has left him slow to collect the orbs, and the pair have already secured four. Roshi warns that no fighter on Earth can defeat Piccolo directly, so their only hope is to distract him, summon Shenron, and wish the demon dead. Tien objects to such a cowardly approach, and when the old master mentions that only Yamcha would be left if they fell, Tien confirms a suspicion he has carried for a while: Roshi knows the Evil Containment Wave.
Back on the grasslands, Yajirobe demands more mutated Namekians to eat in trade for his Dragon Ball. Goku ignores him, glances at the radar, and spots another orb directly overhead. The pair look up to see Pilaf's ship looming above them. Mai fumbles the loudspeakers before finally announcing Piccolo's arrival with proper reverence. Yajirobe recognizes the name, tosses the orb to Goku, and sprints for cover. Pilaf identifies Goku from the deck and warns Piccolo of the boy's troublesome track record. Unmoved, the Great Namekian leaps down to the earth himself. Goku accuses him of being the leader of the murderers who killed his friend and springs at the ancient demon without hesitation.
