The Nyoi-bo's Secret

Manga ChapterCh. 162

After recovering atop Korin Tower, Goku learns that the Power Pole once served as the physical link between Korin Tower and God's Palace high above. With Shenron destroyed and no Dragon Balls to revive the fallen, Korin reveals that only God, the creator of the Dragon Balls, can restore the dragon. Goku embarks on a frantic search to retrieve his Power Pole before ascending to meet God.

Recovery at Korin Tower

Goku celebrates his recovery atop Korin Tower while the wise cat congratulates him on defeating King Piccolo. Korin admits he was mostly confident Goku would win, but not entirely, revealing he would have gathered the Dragon Balls himself if Goku had fallen. Yajirobe interjects that reviving anyone is now impossible since Shenron was killed. Korin is startled by this news and shares a grim detail: souls slain by the Demon Clan cannot pass to the Other World and are left drifting aimlessly through space.

The Path to God

When Goku insists there must be a solution, Korin suddenly recalls something vital. He tells Goku to seek the person who created the Dragon Balls: God. Only the dragon's creator can restore Shenron. Korin explains that God lives at his palace, floating far above the tower, too high to see from the rooftop. The Flying Nimbus cannot reach it. The sole path is the Power Pole, which once bridged Korin Tower and God's Palace before it was lent to Master Roshi, passed to Grandpa Gohan, and eventually inherited by Goku.

The Frantic Search

Goku reaches for the Power Pole on his back and discovers it is missing, abandoned at the battlefield. He flies to the ruins of King Castle on the Nimbus but cannot locate the weapon among the wreckage. Remembering Fortuneteller Baba, he visits her palace. She offers a free reading for his heroism, and her crystal ball reveals the Power Pole is at Kame House. Goku bursts through the door there, grabs the pole, shouts that he is going to meet God and revive everyone, then dashes out before anyone can respond.

Back at Korin Tower, Korin leads Goku to the rooftop where a connector with a small hole sits at the center. Goku inserts the Power Pole and prepares to extend it skyward. Korin gives him a small bell to prove his worthiness for the meeting with God.
