Lessons from Mr. Popo

Mr. Popo tells Goku to go home, pointing out that while he may have been strong on the surface, things are different at this altitude. Goku refuses, explaining that he must meet God to bring everyone back to life. He asks to use the Lookout for training, and Popo tells him to do as he pleases. When Goku attempts to run laps, he quickly becomes dizzy from the thin air.

Popo introduces the concept of moving faster than lightning through calmness of mind. He goes completely blank, his ki becoming undetectable. Goku tries to imitate this but merely stops thinking, which Popo explains is not true emptiness. Popo demonstrates by appearing behind Goku without any visible movement, even knowing that Goku is touching his face with his right hand despite having his back turned. He explains that he feels the movements in the air rather than relying on sight.

God Revealed

Goku acknowledges he cannot defeat Popo, who credits his abilities to God's teaching. When Goku asks why God did not simply defeat Piccolo, Popo replies that God has his reasons. Popo encourages Goku to keep training until he can win, though he has no idea how many years it will take.

A voice calls out, and Popo confirms it is God, who agrees to meet Goku. Popo leads him to the grand entrance of the temple, where God slowly emerges. To Goku's shock, God looks just like Piccolo: a wrinkled green figure with pointed ears and antennae, wearing a robe bearing the symbol for God and carrying a staff. Goku lunges at him screaming, but God effortlessly flicks him away.

The Origin of Piccolo Daimao

God explains that long ago, he and Piccolo were a single genius martial artist who came to the Lookout to succeed the previous God. He could not take the position because of evil lurking in his heart. Through fierce training he drove out that darkness, which became Piccolo Daimao. As thanks for defeating Piccolo, God offers to restore Shenlong, whom he originally created, reviving the Dragon Balls once more.
