Yamcha on the Offensive

The continuation of the match between Yamcha and Shen finds Yamcha desperate to land a meaningful blow. He charges repeatedly, throwing wild punches and kicks with increasing aggression, but Shen blocks every single attack and then calmly pushes Yamcha away each time. The crowd watches in bewilderment, unable to understand how such a skinny, clumsy-looking man can make a proven tournament veteran look completely outmatched. Yamcha attempts a flying kick, but Shen steps aside at the last instant, slips behind him, and delivers a punishing kick to the ribs that sends Yamcha crashing to the ground once again.

The Spirit Ball Gambit

Battered and running low on options, Yamcha decides to unveil a technique he had been saving for later rounds. He channels a concentrated sphere of energy into his right hand and launches the Spirit Ball, a compact projectile he can freely control in midair. The ball streaks toward Shen at high speed, changing direction at Yamcha's command. Shen manages to dodge the initial passes, but the situation is clearly making him nervous. Yamcha then sends the Spirit Ball underground, out of sight. When Shen begins to relax, the sphere erupts from beneath the arena surface and strikes him squarely in the face. The impact staggers Shen backward, and for a moment it seems like Yamcha may have found his opening.

A Swift Conclusion

Shen recovers quickly and decides the fight needs to end. He dashes toward Yamcha with startling speed and drives an elbow directly into his chest. The blow is so powerful and precise that Yamcha staggers backward in a daze, unable to stop his own momentum, until he steps beyond the arena boundary. The announcer calls the match in Shen's favor. A defeated Yamcha admits the loss and asks his opponent who he really is. Shen simply winks at Goku from across the arena and tells him the answer will come soon enough.
