Kami's plan to seal Piccolo Jr. away with the Evil Containment Wave backfires spectacularly when Piccolo reverses the technique and traps Kami inside a small bottle instead. With God now imprisoned and helpless, the fate of the world rests entirely on Goku's shoulders as the tournament finals approach.
As the semifinal match continues, Shen silently acknowledges the limitations of the weak human body he is borrowing. Piccolo, reading his opponent's mind, announces aloud that Shen is using a borrowed body. Shen responds in an ancient language, and Piccolo answers in the same tongue, confirming he now knows exactly who he is facing. Speaking in this foreign dialect so no one else can understand, Piccolo asks what God is doing in the lower world. Kami answers that his purpose should be obvious.
Piccolo laughs at the absurdity of Kami believing he can win. He reminds Kami of the fundamental bond between them: if one dies, the other perishes as well. Kami calmly accepts this, declaring he does not mind sacrificing himself. Piccolo is stunned that Kami would willingly commit suicide. Kami reassures him there is nothing to worry about, as he has already trained a human to serve as his successor.
Switching back to a language the audience can understand, Kami produces a small bottle from his shirt pocket and sets it on the ground. Piccolo immediately recognizes the vessel for what it is: a container for the Evil Containment Wave. Kami announces his intent to use the Mafuba, and the swirling magical energy begins spiraling toward Piccolo.
But Piccolo only smirks. He unleashes a Reverse Mafuba, turning the technique back on its caster. The wave redirects toward Shen, and Kami's spirit is ripped out of the human body. In his final moment of freedom, Kami shouts to Goku that he should not worry about the consequences and must rid the world of Piccolo at any cost. The plea goes unanswered as Piccolo guides Kami's essence into the bottle and plugs the top. Holding the sealed container with a triumphant grin, Piccolo savors his victory as every spectator looks on in shock.
