With their warm-up behind them, Goku and Piccolo Jr. escalate the battle to terrifying new heights. Piccolo resorts to a devastating Makosen that obliterates distant mountains, and Goku narrowly avoids a ring-out by propelling himself back with a Reverse Kamehameha. Landing safely, Goku announces he is ready to counter with a Super Kamehameha.
The fight intensifies as Goku and Piccolo trade blows at a pace the spectators can barely follow. After a furious sequence of punches and kicks, the two lock hands in a test of raw strength. Piccolo attempts to break the deadlock by firing Eye Lasers at close range, but Goku ducks under the beams and swings his legs upward, kicking Piccolo squarely in the face. Piccolo stumbles back, and Goku vanishes from sight.
Piccolo anticipates the maneuver and whips an elbow behind him, catching Goku and slamming him into the back wall of the arena. The impact smashes through the concrete, sending debris flying dangerously close to Krillin and the other spectators standing nearby. But when the dust settles, Goku is not in the rubble. He has already repositioned himself behind Piccolo and delivers a powerful kick that sends Piccolo skidding across the ring.
Realizing ground combat is not working in his favor, Piccolo launches into the sky and shouts that he intends to destroy everything below. Goku yells for the crowd to flee, then realizes there is no time for evacuation. He leaps after Piccolo instead, determined to stop the attack directly.
Piccolo fires a Makosen downward at the approaching Goku. The blast barely grazes him but continues past, crashing into a distant mountain range and detonating with enough force to level the peaks. Piccolo is furious that the attack only grazed its target. The near miss knocks Goku off course, sending him hurtling toward the ring boundary and a potential ring-out. Thinking quickly, Goku fires a Kamehameha in reverse, using its recoil to propel himself back into the arena. Safe on the ring once more, Goku looks up at Piccolo still hovering above and declares that he will respond with a Super Kamehameha.
