Krillin unleashes a devastating attack that wipes out most of the Saibamen, and Piccolo dispatches the sole survivor before it can reach Gohan. With the warm-up over, Vegeta and Nappa emerge completely unscathed. Nappa powers up to face all five remaining defenders on his own, and the Earth itself trembles under his energy.
Fueled by rage over Yamcha's death, Krillin fires his Scattering Bullet at the remaining Saibamen and the two Saiyans. The wide-spread energy volley tears through the battlefield. Three Saibamen are destroyed outright, and a fourth is nearly caught in the blast. Both Vegeta and Nappa take direct hits as well. When the smoke begins to settle, the Z Fighters allow themselves a brief moment of hope, cheering at what appears to be a decisive strike.
Their celebration is short-lived. The one Saibaman that narrowly dodged the attack comes rushing out of the debris and lunges directly at Gohan. Before the creature can reach the boy, Piccolo snatches it by the arm, drives a powerful fist into its stomach, and flings it high into the air. He finishes it off with a concentrated blast from his mouth, disintegrating it completely. Gohan thanks Piccolo for the save, but Piccolo dismisses the gratitude, insisting he was not trying to protect anyone. He was simply warming up for the real fight ahead.
Vegeta and Nappa emerge from the settling dust without a single scratch on them. Tien is stunned that the pair survived a full-power assault so effortlessly, and Krillin himself can hardly believe the gap in their strength. Nappa cracks his knuckles and announces he will take on all five defenders by himself, expressing his hope that they can at least keep things entertaining for him.
As Nappa begins powering up, the ground shakes violently beneath the fighters' feet. The pressure of his rising ki sends visible tremors through the landscape. Chiaotzu quietly tells Tien that his telekinesis will have no effect against energy this overwhelming. Krillin feels the Earth quaking and struggles to stay composed. Nappa finishes his power-up and settles into a fighting stance, ready to strike. Every warrior on the field understands the grim truth: the Saibamen were nothing more than a prologue, and the real battle against a genuine Saiyan warrior is about to begin.
