Vegeta attacks another Namekian village and massacres its inhabitants to claim their Dragon Ball. Back at Bulma's cave, Dende explains the Ajissa trees and Namekian culture to the group. When Krillin and Gohan sense the distant ki signatures vanishing, they realize Vegeta is slaughtering villagers. Dende begs the Earthlings to save his people and asks them to visit the Grand Elder.
Vegeta flies across the Namekian landscape and detects roughly twenty power levels clustered together, a clear sign of a village. He accelerates, confident that without scouters Frieza cannot track him. The settlement is untouched, its villagers peacefully farming Ajissa trees. Vegeta lands and demands the elder produce the Dragon Ball. The heavyset elder asks why he should surrender anything to someone radiating such obvious evil. Vegeta's response is blunt: comply or die.
At the capsule house hidden in Bulma's cave, the group rests after their harrowing escape. Krillin and Gohan eat heartily while Dende refuses food. When Krillin insists, Dende explains Namekians survive on water alone. The crops Krillin saw in the villages were young Ajissa trees, not food. Before a catastrophic weather event nearly wiped out both the species and the Namekian population, the planet was lush with Ajissa. The survivors have been replanting ever since. Gohan asks the boy his name, and Dende introduces himself before asking who these strangers are.
Krillin and Gohan rush outside when distant ki signatures begin vanishing one by one. The energy behind the killing belongs to Vegeta, terrorizing another village. Krillin warns that until Goku arrives, they cannot be careless; if Vegeta or Frieza gains eternal life through the Dragon Balls, everything is lost. Bulma suggests securing just one ball to block anyone from completing the set, but Gohan argues that Vegeta will continue massacring Namekians regardless. At the village, Vegeta kills the last defenders and demands the Dragon Ball. The elder refuses to the end, so Vegeta blasts him and finds the ball himself. Back at the cave, Dende begs the group to explain who they are and to save his people. Krillin tells him they came from Earth. Dende then asks to be taken to the Grand Elder.
