Zarbon reveals his grotesque transformed state and turns the fight against Vegeta decisively. After pummeling the Saiyan prince and driving him headfirst into the ground, Zarbon leaves him for dead. But Vegeta barely survives, dragging himself from the water with a vow to grow even stronger from the brink of death.
Vegeta laughs off Zarbon's threat of a hidden power, but Zarbon is deadly serious. He explains that unlocking his full strength requires a physical transformation, one he despises because it ruins his beautiful appearance. Unlike the Saiyans who grow into massive Great Apes, Zarbon's change affects only his raw power while warping his features into something repulsive. With no other option, he triggers the shift. His body bulks up grotesquely, his face twisting into a toad-like visage. Vegeta's confidence evaporates the instant Zarbon slams into him with a crushing headbutt, then flings him skyward like a ragdoll.
Vegeta recovers in midair and dives back toward Zarbon, but the transformed warrior rockets upward to meet him fist-first. The blow connects squarely with Vegeta's face. A follow-up kick sends the Saiyan hurtling across the sky, barely catching himself as his stamina drains rapidly. Zarbon taunts Vegeta for being so shocked by a transforming race, then delivers a chilling revelation: Frieza also belongs to a species that can transform. Vegeta's expression shifts to genuine alarm. Zarbon seizes the opening and unleashes a point-blank energy wave.
Vegeta narrowly dodges the blast, but Zarbon closes the distance and locks onto him from behind. Gripping the Saiyan tightly, Zarbon nosedives straight down and drives Vegeta headfirst into the Namekian soil at devastating speed. Satisfied that no one could survive both the impact and the drowning that follows, Zarbon reverts to his elegant form and flies off to report his victory to Frieza. Beneath the water's surface, however, Vegeta stirs. Battered beyond recognition, he claws his way back onto land, alive through sheer willpower and already fixated on the Saiyan trait that makes near-death experiences a gateway to greater power.
