Three separate storylines converge as war on Namek draws closer. Gohan and Krillin fly toward Grand Elder Guru's house to unlock Gohan's hidden power, Goku pushes through brutal 100x gravity training aboard his spaceship, and Frieza makes the fateful decision to summon the Ginyu Force after losing contact with Zarbon.
Left alone in the group's new hiding spot, Bulma complains about Gohan and Krillin abandoning her. The two warriors fly at low speed toward Grand Elder Guru's house, keeping their energy output minimal so that Vegeta cannot detect them. Krillin expresses confidence that once Guru unlocks Gohan's latent power, the two of them together should be strong enough to stand against Vegeta. Meanwhile, Vegeta returns to where he stashed his Dragon Balls and realizes that hiding them is pointless if Gohan and Krillin possess a device that can locate them. He resolves to eliminate the pair before they become a bigger problem.
Aboard his Capsule Corporation spaceship, Goku has escalated his training to an extreme level, now working under 100 times Earth's normal gravity. He drills relentlessly using a Kamehameha Barrage technique, firing blasts in rapid succession until his body gives out from exhaustion. He manages to swallow a Senzu Bean, which restores him instantly, and throws himself right back into training. By the following day, even 100G barely challenges him anymore. He concludes that his training is complete. After returning the gravity to normal, he is stunned by how dramatically his speed has increased. He estimates that he could now sustain a Kaio-ken x10 without destroying his body. Satisfied, he bathes and rests as his ship continues its journey toward Namek.
On his own spacecraft, Frieza comes to the conclusion that Zarbon has either been killed or has fled. He regrets not calling for the Ginyu Force sooner. He also deduces that Vegeta has not yet managed to gather all seven Dragon Balls. Elsewhere, Krillin and Gohan stop briefly to eat, and Krillin feels safe enough to pick up their pace since they are now far from Vegeta. That confidence proves dangerously premature, as Vegeta quickly locks onto their energy signatures.
