Five Deadly Fighters

Manga ChapterCh. 272

Outnumbered and outmatched, Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan face off against the Ginyu Force with all seven Dragon Balls at stake. Every attempt to keep even one ball away from the elite squad fails spectacularly, as Burter's blinding speed and Guldo's time-freezing ability shut down each desperate ploy. The Ginyu Force divides up opponents through a game of rock-paper-scissors.

All Seven Accounted For

The Ginyu Force stands before the five Dragon Balls they have secured, with Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan arriving moments too late. Captain Ginyu tallies them up: five balls on the ground, plus the two that Vegeta and Krillin are carrying, equals all seven. Vegeta refuses to surrender his. Krillin, scanning the group's power levels, notices that Ginyu is overwhelmingly the strongest of the five, while Guldo trails far behind the rest.

Ginyu confirms to Vegeta that their scouters cannot track Dragon Balls. Seizing on this, Vegeta hurls his ball as far as he can into the sky, hoping it will disappear into the wilderness. But Burter rockets after it, snatches it out of the air, and returns in an instant. Ginyu boasts that Burter is the fastest warrior in the universe. Growing desperate, Vegeta turns to Krillin and shouts at him to destroy his Dragon Ball before the Ginyu Force can claim it. Krillin raises his hand to strike the ball, but in that fraction of a second it vanishes from in front of him. Everyone looks up to find Guldo holding it. Vegeta mutters that he had heard rumors about Guldo possessing the ability to freeze time.

Choosing Opponents

With all seven balls now in their possession, Captain Ginyu orders the remaining four members to deal with Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan while he personally delivers the Dragon Balls to Frieza. Rather than strategize, the four Ginyu Force members settle the matchups through a game of rock-paper-scissors. Recoome wins and claims Vegeta as his opponent. Guldo ends up matched against Gohan and Krillin.

Vegeta quietly asks Krillin and Gohan whether Goku is truly on his way to Namek, admitting that they could use his help. Krillin confirms that Goku should arrive soon. Recoome tells Guldo to take his fight first. Gohan and Krillin power up together, and the surge in their energy readings visibly shocks Jeice, Recoome, and Burter. The two fighters launch into the sky and fire simultaneous ki blasts at Guldo, opening the battle.
