Piccolo arrives on the battlefield and immediately challenges Frieza, stunning the onlookers with his vastly improved power. After trading blows in a fierce exchange, the Namekian warrior deflects one of Frieza's energy attacks and lands a devastating counter blast, leaving the tyrant furious and the spectators in total disbelief.
Fresh from his arrival on Planet Namek, Piccolo sizes up Frieza and acknowledges the tyrant's intimidating presence. Vegeta, recalling how easily Piccolo fell during the battle on Earth, scoffs at the idea of wishing him back to life and calls it a pointless waste. Unfazed, Piccolo warns Vegeta that he will be next once Frieza is dealt with. Meanwhile, aboard Frieza's spaceship, Goku detects Piccolo's energy signature from inside the Medical Machine and struggles to make sense of his sudden return to the living.
Piccolo instructs Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin to stand back while he handles Frieza alone, then tells Dende to find cover. The young Namekian is startled that Piccolo already knows his name. While Krillin and Vegeta both doubt Piccolo can compete with Frieza at this level, Gohan suspects there is more to his mentor's confidence than bravado. Piccolo opens the fight by rushing Frieza head-on and landing a clean shot to the face. Frieza evades the follow-up strike and retaliates with a powerful kick, but Piccolo springs off a rock formation below and drives a headbutt squarely into Frieza's chest. The tyrant whips his tail into Piccolo, sending him tumbling through the air.
As Piccolo falls, Frieza unleashes a massive ki blast aimed at finishing him off for good. To everyone's shock, Piccolo swats the blast skyward and fires back with a devastating wave of his own. The counterattack connects squarely, engulfing Frieza in the explosion. When the smoke clears, the tyrant is still standing, but visibly damaged and shaken. Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin stare in astonishment at the Namekian's newfound might. Frieza, seething with rage, curses Piccolo for daring to wound him.
