The Wrong Androids

Future Trunks stares at Android 19's severed head and declares that something is wrong. He sees an explosion from the ongoing battle and flies toward it, noting that 19 is not one of the androids from his timeline. At the battlefield, Piccolo continues to overwhelm Android 20, who cannot understand how the Namekian exceeded every projection. Piccolo tells him that the future has changed, whether because the androids fell short or the fighters grew too strong. Tien remarks that he dislikes Piccolo and Vegeta being so powerful, but concedes it is useful. Vegeta tells Piccolo to finish the android, and Piccolo agrees, noting he is not soft like Goku.

Future Trunks Confronts the Truth

Everyone senses a ki approaching, and Future Trunks arrives. He does not recognize Android 20 either. The android decides to retreat to his laboratory, thinking he has miscalculated too severely. Trunks asks who Android 20 is and whether the Z Fighters were battling him. Vegeta tells Trunks these are the androids he warned them about, but Trunks looks confused. Piccolo asks if these truly are not the androids from his timeline, and the group is thrown into uncertainty. Krillin suggests the androids could be different because history was altered.

Android 20 Escapes

As the fighters discuss the situation, Android 20 slips away among the rocks. Bulma's airplane approaches carrying her, Yajirobe, and baby Trunks. Android 20 shouts that Androids 17 and 18 will come for them, then fires a Photon Wave that destroys the airplane. Future Trunks rescues Bulma and his infant self from the wreckage. Vegeta prepares to pursue the android, but Future Trunks blocks his path and demands to know why Vegeta made no effort to save Bulma and his own son. Vegeta dismisses sentiment as worthless and flies off. Bulma then reveals she believes Android 20 is actually Dr. Gero, recognizing his face from an academic journal, and suggests he modified his own body into a cyborg.
