Islands Under Fire

Cell grows impatient when Android 18 refuses to emerge. He turns toward the populated city below and decides to start destroying islands to force her out. A massive Big Bang Crash tears through the first island, wiping it out in a blinding flash and sending enormous waves across the ocean. Cell watches without emotion, concluding that 18 was not there. He shouts another warning: one island is gone, and the rest will follow.

Android 18 sees smoke rising in the distance and tells Android 16 that Cell is making good on his threat. The battered 16 urges calm, explaining that Cell is holding back each blast to avoid killing her, since she is the key to his perfection. Still, 18 points out that even a restrained explosion would finish 16 in his condition. As Cell continues leveling islands in rapid succession, 16 ponders why Cell even needs his Perfect Form when he already seems unbeatable.

The Prince Arrives

Vegeta senses the explosions from afar, transforms into a Super Saiyan, and accelerates toward the battlefield. On the androids' island, a neighboring land mass detonates, and the shockwave hits 18 and 16 hard. Android 18 realizes Cell is closing in. Android 16 tells her to stay put, warning that Cell is watching for anyone who takes flight.

Cell reaches their island and raises his palm. Before he can fire, he spots a figure rocketing toward him. Vegeta arrives and hovers face to face with Cell. Both identify each other, and Vegeta orders Cell to come down. They descend to the surface as 16 and 18 watch from cover. Cell dismisses Vegeta, claiming he cannot win. Vegeta responds that he has no intention of merely defeating Cell; he plans to pulverize him. He adds with visible disgust that his own cells were used to create something so ugly.

Setting the Stage

Android 18 watches in disbelief, recalling that days earlier she overwhelmed Vegeta without difficulty. Future Trunks lands behind the two combatants. Cell acknowledges him but says numbers do not matter. Vegeta waves off the comment, declaring Trunks is merely a spectator and that he alone is more than enough to end Cell.
