Vegeta vs. Trunks?

A Desperate Warning

Future Trunks spots what Cell has already noticed: Android 18 is nearby, with Krillin and Android 16 beside her. Realizing they have no idea Cell has located them, Trunks shouts a frantic warning. All three freeze in panic as Cell rockets toward them. Trunks powers up to Super Saiyan Second Grade and gives chase, determined to prevent Cell from reaching his complete form.

Vegeta, however, sees opportunity where Trunks sees catastrophe. He considers it fortunate the androids appeared and declares that he will not allow his son to interfere. Just as Trunks closes the gap, Vegeta delivers a vicious kick that sends him crashing into a mountain. Cell touches down in front of the group, and both Android 18 and Android 16 brace for a fight. Cell warns 16 not to do anything reckless given how close the android is to shutting down, then casually mentions that Vegeta wants him to complete his transformation. Krillin curses Vegeta under his breath.

Father Against Son

Trunks pulls himself from the rubble and confronts Vegeta. He pleads with his father to understand that Cell's power after absorbing Android 18 could eclipse them both. Vegeta scoffs, asking whether Trunks is curious to see just how strong Cell might become. Trunks fires back that he has no interest; the nightmarish future he lived through showed him more than enough. He tells Vegeta plainly that he will stop Cell from reaching perfection, even if that means going through his own father.

Vegeta laughs off the threat, doubting Trunks could strike his own parent. Trunks responds by unleashing a massive two-handed blast at Vegeta and then bolting toward Cell. But Cell moves first, firing off a blinding Solar Flare that catches Trunks, Krillin, Android 16, and Android 18 all at once. In that moment of total blindness, Cell opens his tail and swallows Android 18 whole. When their vision returns, Trunks and Krillin are horrified. Vegeta acknowledges his son truly did attack him, but his attention shifts as Cell begins to change. The transformation to perfection has begun.
