The Final Flash

Manga ChapterCh. 382

Outmatched by Perfect Cell, Vegeta gambles everything on a new technique. Charging an enormous amount of energy while goading Cell into standing still, Vegeta fires the Final Flash, a beam powerful enough to obliterate the Earth. The prince narrows the blast at the last instant, and it tears away the right side of Cell's torso.

Cell Takes Control

Perfect Cell stands before a stunned Vegeta and asks what happened to the prince's overconfidence, mockingly inviting him to laugh again. Cell drives a kick into Vegeta's abdomen that sends him smashing through a line of rocky formations until Vegeta catches himself in midair. Landing casually, Cell echoes Vegeta's own earlier words about how boring it is when there is a huge difference in power. Krillin pleads with Future Trunks to step in before Vegeta is killed. Trunks says he will intervene only after Vegeta is knocked unconscious, so his father never has to witness how much stronger Trunks truly is. Krillin notes that the plan only works if Vegeta survives long enough. Android 16 briefly moves to help, but Cell warns him not to bother and dismisses him as worthless junk.

The Final Flash

In a sudden shift, Vegeta spreads both arms wide and begins channeling an immense volume of energy. He focuses his hands forward, aiming directly at Cell. Trunks and Krillin watch in alarm, unsure of what Vegeta is attempting. Vegeta challenges Cell to take the attack head on, taunting the android's pride. Cell accepts. Trunks realizes that Vegeta is provoking Cell so that he will not dodge, while Krillin panics at the thought that an attack this large could destroy the planet. Trunks begs his father to stop, but Vegeta ignores him. Krillin screams at Trunks to run.

Vegeta roars the name of his new attack and fires the Final Flash. The beam collides with Cell, who realizes its true destructive force too late. The blast tears past him and shoots into space. Krillin is stunned they are still alive. Trunks understands that Vegeta narrowed the beam at the last possible second to spare the Earth. When the smoke clears, Cell is still standing but badly wounded; the entire right side of his torso has been blown away. Vegeta declares the fight over.
