Cell regenerates the devastating damage from Vegeta's Final Flash and proceeds to dismantle the Saiyan prince with ruthless efficiency. After beating Vegeta unconscious and out of his powered-up state, Cell prepares to finish him off. Krillin shouts for Trunks to act, and the young Saiyan finally unleashes his hidden power, ascending to Super Saiyan Third Grade.
Cell screams in agony with his arm and a large chunk of his body blown away by Vegeta's Final Flash. Vegeta laughs triumphantly, and both Krillin and Future Trunks feel a wave of relief. Cell curses Vegeta and rails against the indignity of being damaged despite achieving perfection, which only makes Vegeta laugh harder. Then Cell's expression shifts to a smirk. He reminds Vegeta that his body contains Piccolo's cells, and right before their eyes, his arm and torso regenerate completely. Vegeta, Trunks, and Krillin are stunned into silence. Cell walks toward Vegeta, ready to settle things for good.
In desperation, Vegeta fires a massive energy blast at Cell, then follows it with a rapid barrage that tears across the entire island. Future Trunks braces against the shockwaves. Cell walks through every blast without flinching and emerges from the smoke directly in front of Vegeta. A single left punch to the face sends Vegeta tumbling to the ground. Cell stalks over to the struggling prince, who winces as he forces himself to stand. Cell kicks him skyward, flies behind him, and drives an elbow into his back, smashing Vegeta into the earth. The impact knocks Vegeta out of his Super Saiyan Second Grade state entirely and leaves him unconscious.
Krillin confirms that Vegeta is still alive but barely. Cell calls Vegeta a fool and moves to deliver the killing blow. Krillin yells at Trunks that the moment has arrived. Trunks begins powering up, his energy skyrocketing as he pushes beyond his father's level into Super Saiyan Third Grade. His muscles swell, his hair grows longer, and his hair tie snaps apart. Krillin watches in awe as Trunks' transformation takes shape before him.
