A Staggering Transformation

Future Trunks continues powering up into Super Saiyan Third Grade, and the sheer output of energy distracts Cell from delivering the finishing blow to Vegeta. Both Cell and Krillin are amazed at how powerful Trunks has become. Krillin senses that despite the massive energy Trunks is releasing, the young Saiyan is not even close to his full fighting strength and wonders just how powerful a Saiyan can truly get. Trunks hands Krillin his last Senzu Bean and tells him to get Vegeta to Master Roshi's house. Krillin agrees but asks if Trunks has any beans left for himself. Trunks assures him he will not need one, declaring flatly that he intends to win. As Trunks descends toward Cell, Krillin reflects that Trunks is not the type to make empty boasts, which makes his confidence all the more striking.

Drawing Cell Away

Trunks lands in front of Cell, who remarks on the impressive power the young Saiyan had been concealing. Trunks announces that he will kill Cell. Cell calls it a bold statement, and the two close the distance between them. Cell opens with a kick that Trunks dodges, then leaps in with a punch that Cell evades before countering with a blow to Trunks' stomach. Cell follows up with a kick that sends Trunks tumbling, alarming Krillin. But Trunks immediately signals Krillin toward Vegeta, revealing the whole exchange was a ruse to draw Cell's attention. Krillin grabs the unconscious Vegeta, shoots Trunks a thumbs up, and flies away.

A Worthy Opponent

With Vegeta safely out of danger, Trunks rises and faces Cell with genuine confidence. Cell asks whether Trunks can now fight without restraint. Trunks is surprised Cell allowed Krillin to escape, but Cell explains he has lost interest in Vegeta entirely. What fascinates him now is Trunks' hidden power, which he sees as the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the full extent of his Perfect Form. Trunks is more than willing to oblige. He powers up again, preparing to fight for real.
