Gohan visits Capsule Corporation seeking Bulma's help in creating a disguise for his crime-fighting activities. She builds him a watch-like device that generates a full costume at the press of a button. The very next morning, Gohan tests out his new persona by confronting reckless drivers on the highway, debuting the flamboyant alter ego he calls the Great Saiyaman.
Gohan flies to Capsule Corporation and explains his problem to Bulma. He needs a way to change into a disguise instantly so nobody connects his crime-fighting to his civilian life. Bulma proposes building a device that generates a full costume on command and tells Gohan to wait two hours.
While killing time, Gohan asks about Trunks. Bulma tells him that Vegeta has been training their son relentlessly, aiming to make Trunks surpass Gohan. Wandering the Capsule Corporation complex, Gohan bumps into Trunks, who confirms the training regimen. Gohan then finds Vegeta, who warns him bluntly that he will get rusty if he neglects his own training.
Two hours later, Bulma presents Gohan with a wristwatch that projects a full-body costume at the push of a button. Gohan activates it, and the outfit appears around him. Trunks takes one look and declares it ridiculous. Gohan thanks Bulma and heads home on the Flying Nimbus at maximum speed, thrilled that his identity will finally be protected.
The next morning, Gohan decides to try the costume in the field. Flying under his own power is faster than the Nimbus, and the disguise means nobody will recognize him. While soaring to school, he spots a car weaving dangerously across a freeway and lands directly in its path.
The driver and his companion climb out aggressively, brandishing a knife and demanding to know who Gohan is. He strikes a dramatic pose and announces himself as the Great Saiyaman. The criminals burst out laughing. Furious, Gohan stomps the ground hard enough to punch a crater into the asphalt, insisting he put real thought into the name. The display of power terrifies them, and they promise to drive safely before fleeing.
