Mr. Satan must face the Junior Division champion Trunks in the exhibition match. Terrified after witnessing the boy's power, Satan scrambles for a way out that preserves his reputation. He concocts a scheme involving a fake pre-fight greeting, but Trunks's lightest tap sends the world champion flying out of the ring and into the wall.
With his Junior Division victory, Trunks earns the right to face Mr. Satan in an exhibition bout. Backstage, Satan is absolutely terrified. He watched the entire final and knows this child is far beyond anything he can handle. Despite his fear, he musters enough composure to maintain his public image, strutting into the ring with his usual bravado.
Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Android 18 all walk away, certain the fight will be completely one-sided. Gohan stays behind because Videl is visibly confused that nobody wants to watch her father compete. In the ring, Trunks tells Satan he plans to go all out. Satan nervously insists this is just a fun exhibition and tells the boy not to be so immature. Trunks points out that he is a child, so immaturity is expected. Goten cheers loudly for Trunks from the sideline, which irritates Satan further.
Satan suddenly drops to one knee, clutching his leg and claiming an old injury from the Cell Games is acting up. When the announcer offers to call a doctor, Satan springs back to his feet and insists the pain has passed. He knows he cannot win, but losing to a kid in front of the world would destroy his reputation.
Thinking fast, Satan comes up with a scheme. He calls Trunks over and invents a story about a traditional pre-fight greeting where the fighters tap each other's faces with their fists. His plan is to absorb a light tap from the boy, then dramatically throw himself out of the ring so it looks like he lost on purpose as a generous gesture.
When the bout officially begins, Satan walks up to Trunks and presents his face for the greeting. Trunks obliges with what he considers a gentle touch. The impact launches Satan clear out of the ring and into the arena wall at full force. Despite the crushing blow, Satan somehow manages to stand up and play the whole thing off as an act of charity toward a young fan. The crowd buys it completely and laughs along. Satan keeps a straight face all the way back to his private room, where he collapses and clutches his face in agony.
