Back to the Nightmare

Manga ChapterCh. 464

Vegeta's sacrifice proves futile. His ash remains crumble away, but tiny fragments of Buu crawl back together and reform completely. Babidi survives thanks to his barrier and reasserts control over the restored monster. Piccolo entrusts the unconscious Trunks and Goten to Krillin, calling them Earth's last fragile hope, and heads to the Lookout.

The Aftermath

In the capsule plane, Bulma wonders what drove Vegeta to behave so strangely. Yamcha urges her to focus on gathering the Dragon Balls to revive the dead spectators. Master Roshi reflects that evil seemed to be flowing through Vegeta. The plane hits turbulence from a massive distant explosion, and Bulma feels a pit in her stomach that it involves Vegeta.

Vegeta's Remains

At the center of a vast crater, a brittle ash figure shaped like Vegeta hovers motionless. It is the only trace left behind. The ashen form drifts down, strikes the earth, and crumbles into dust. Piccolo instructs Krillin to take the boys home while he investigates. He warns that grim news awaits their families: Goku's status is unknown, and Vegeta confirmed Gohan was killed by Buu.

Buu Reforms

Piccolo lands in the crater and recognizes Vegeta's strategy: pulverize Buu into fragments too small to regenerate. Then he notices movement. Countless tiny pink blobs squirm across the ground, each reshaping into a miniature Buu. They converge and merge into a single mass. Piccolo bolts skyward without hesitation. Majin Buu stands whole once again, giggling as though nothing happened.

Babidi's New Agenda

Babidi's voice calls from the rubble. The wizard survived inside his barrier, though his body is mangled. He orders Buu to heal him, threatening to seal the monster if he refuses. Buu grudgingly complies. With his body restored, Babidi abandons his plan to destroy the planet outright. Instead, he wants to hunt down the green fighter and the two children who interfered and make them suffer personally.

Piccolo takes the boys from Krillin, declaring he will bring them to the Lookout. These two children are their only remaining hope, however slim. Babidi climbs onto Buu's back and they take flight, the wizard vowing to turn Earth into a living hell. Elsewhere, Supreme Kai drags himself forward, battered but alive, desperately hoping Gohan still draws breath.
