Kibito finds the wounded Supreme Kai and heals him. The two rush to recover Gohan, whom Supreme Kai believes holds the potential to surpass Buu, and teleport him to the Sacred World of the Kai. At the Lookout, Goku delivers the devastating news of Gohan and Vegeta's deaths. Babidi broadcasts a telepathic ultimatum and has Buu devour an entire crowd as a demonstration.
At the edge of the battlefield, Kibito struggles to understand why he is alive. He senses Supreme Kai and flies toward him. Supreme Kai is barely conscious, dragging himself across the ground, muttering that Gohan must survive. He collapses just before Kibito reaches him. Kibito pours healing energy into the deity, restoring him fully. Neither can explain the resurrection, but Supreme Kai wastes no time on the mystery and insists they reach Gohan immediately.
As they fly toward the forest where Gohan fell, Supreme Kai reveals he sees a faint light of possibility. He believes Gohan's extraordinary power can be elevated to a level that surpasses Buu. Kibito is stunned when Supreme Kai declares his intent to bring a mortal to the Sacred World of the Kai, ground so hallowed that not even Grand Kai has visited. Supreme Kai overrides the objection. They locate Gohan's unconscious body and Kibito teleports all three away in a flash.
Everyone has gathered on the Lookout. Krillin notes that Tien and Chiaotzu remain unaccounted for. Chi-Chi asks about Gohan and Goten; Bulma asks about Trunks and Vegeta. Goku tells them the truth: Goten and Trunks are safe, but Gohan and Vegeta were killed by Majin Buu. Chi-Chi faints, caught by the Ox-King. Bulma breaks down in tears.
Babidi's voice floods every mind on the planet. He demands that Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten surrender themselves. He introduces himself and Buu, then orders a demonstration. Buu lifts an entire crowd into the air, transforms them all into candy spheres, inhales them like a vacuum, and devours every last one. The message is unmistakable: cooperate, or the killing continues.
