A Changed Predator

Super Buu cracks his neck and grins with undisguised malice. On the Lookout, Piccolo tells Krillin that Buu's ki has undergone a complete transformation. He attributes it to the actions of reckless humans and explains that Buu has shed every trace of innocence, becoming pure evil in a body far better suited for combat. Krillin nervously reminds Piccolo that they still have Goten and Trunks and the Fusion technique, but Piccolo is visibly uneasy.

On the Sacred World of the Kai, Goku detects the change as well. Gohan worries aloud that his power-up will not be finished in time, but the Old Kai tells him to relax, flipping through a manga without a care in the world.

Brutality Unleashed

On the surface, Mr. Satan watches the new Buu with growing dread. The sniper's surviving accomplice crawls up a cliff, grabs a machine gun, and opens fire. The bullets pass harmlessly through Buu's elastic body. Buu laughs, then flies over to the man, oozes into his mouth in liquid form, and causes him to explode from the inside. The display is so grotesque that even Satan, hardened by years in the ring, is shaken to his core.

Buu then drifts toward Satan and the puppy. He stops, hovering just overhead, and stares down at them. For a long, tense moment he says nothing. Then he murmurs Satan's name, almost as if a faint echo of his former self still lingers, and flies away without attacking. Satan wonders whether some part of the old Buu still remembers him.

Arrival at the Lookout

Buu streaks across the sky, laughing wildly, his shockwave flattening everything beneath his path. Without warning he changes direction and shoots straight upward. On the Lookout, Piccolo screams at everyone that Buu has locked onto their ki signatures, but his warning comes too late. In an instant, Super Buu materializes directly in front of the group, and the confrontation everyone feared is now unavoidable.
