The Crater

Gotenks calls Buu out of the crater, knowing the volleyball slam was not enough to kill him. He urges Buu to hurry, admitting he cannot maintain this level of power for long and will need an hour before he can use it again. Piccolo arrives, and Gotenks wonders aloud whether he was too strong and Buu really is dead. A colossal blast erupts from the crater, nearly vaporizing both of them. Piccolo notes the beam carried enough force to obliterate the entire planet in an instant.

Furious, Gotenks fires a barrage of Continuous Die Die Missiles into the hole. Piccolo screams at him to stop, warning that he could destroy the Earth. Gotenks dismisses the concern, pointing out that everyone is already dead. Piccolo reminds him that even one destroyed Dragon Ball means nothing can be restored. Gotenks halts immediately.

The Tide Turns

Buu emerges from the rubble, looking largely undamaged. Piccolo insists Buu has been weakened, not physically but in spirit, because he has never fought anyone this powerful before. Gotenks gloats, convinced Buu is scared. Piccolo scolds him for being careless. Buu charges in and headbutts Gotenks across the horizon. Gotenks dodges a follow-up punch and hammers Buu into the ruins of a city.

Gotenks dives after him, but Buu fires a huge blast from his mouth. The smoke clears to reveal Gotenks burnt to a crisp and seething with anger. He retaliates with his own mouth blast, frying Buu in return. The two drop to the ground, and Gotenks lands a kick, blocks a punch, lands another kick, and then takes complete control, pounding Buu relentlessly. Goku, watching through the crystal ball, remarks that Gohan may not even get a turn at this rate.

Time Runs Out

Gotenks announces he will shatter Buu into pieces so small he can never reform, then wipe out every fragment with ki. But in the middle of his declaration, the golden aura vanishes. Super Saiyan 3 expires, and Gotenks reverts to his unfused base state, leaving two exhausted boys standing where a warrior once stood.
