Buu returns with a cunning plan: he goads Trunks and Goten into fusing, then secretly detaches blobs of his own body to absorb both Gotenks and Piccolo. The resulting transformation gives Buu the raw power of a Super Saiyan 3 fused warrior combined with Piccolo's tactical intelligence, creating the strongest version of Majin Buu yet.
Buu lands with a smirk, and Gohan notes nothing about him appears changed. Trunks assumes Buu will flee again. Instead, Buu ignores Gohan entirely and demands a rematch with the two boys. Gohan refuses, but Buu insists on settling the score first. When Buu accuses the boys of cowardice, Trunks and Goten take the bait, each shouting they are not afraid. Piccolo senses something wrong about the entire exchange, but Trunks dismisses the idea that Buu could possibly be scheming, calling him too stupid for that.
The boys perform the Fusion Dance, and Gotenks immediately powers up to Super Saiyan 3. As Gotenks flies over to stand beside Gohan, Buu quietly thinks about combining the youngster's power with Piccolo's intellect. Two small blobs detach from his back and slide across the ground, completely unnoticed.
The moment Gotenks prepares to attack, one blob surges forward and engulfs him. The second captures Piccolo at the same time. Buu recalls both masses with a flick of his finger and absorbs them. Goku screams at Gohan to attack immediately, but the transformation finishes before Gohan can react.
Buu's forelock now hangs to his knees like Super Saiyan 3 hair, and he wears Gotenks' vest. He proclaims the strongest Majin has been born. He explains that he sensed Gohan's power from afar and started planning the moment he realized someone might surpass him. Their earlier fight confirmed his fear, and absorbing Super Gotenks was the solution. Gohan argues it would have been smarter to just absorb him instead. Buu grins: being the strongest means nothing without a worthy opponent to destroy. Killing Gohan is the entire point. Gohan smiles in understanding, bracing for the fight of his life.
