Goku and Kid Buu clash in a ferocious battle as Vegeta narrates a deeply personal inner monologue. For the first time, the prince openly acknowledges that Goku surpasses him, reflecting on why: Goku fights not to win, but to never lose, constantly shattering his own limits. The chapter culminates with Goku blasting Buu apart, only to find the Majin's stamina inexhaustible.
Vegeta opens with internal narration, declaring the battle for the universe has begun. Buu charges, but Goku fires a Kamehameha that obliterates him from the waist down. Buu regenerates instantly. Goku appears behind him and slams him toward the ground. Buu inflates into a parachute shape to land safely. Goku rushes forward, but Buu drives his own leg into the earth. The leg erupts in front of Goku, catching him in the face. Buu fires a huge blast, but Goku teleports away and kicks him. They lock into a furious exchange of blows.
As the battle rages, Vegeta's thoughts pour out. He admits Goku is the only warrior capable of facing this Buu, an opponent Vegeta could not even challenge. He once believed Goku's strength came from having loved ones to protect. He now shares that same motivation, yet the gulf remains. The true difference is mentality: Goku does not fight to defeat his opponent. He fights to never lose, continually surpassing his own limits. That is why Goku spared Vegeta's life years ago, as if he already knew the prince would change. The thought infuriates Vegeta, but fills him with respect. He concludes with a stunning admission: Goku is number one.
Buu fires a massive Kamehameha. Mr. Satan marvels at how intense his dream has become. Buu believes he has won, but a Kamehameha erupts from the smoke and tears him apart. Goku curses Buu's resilience: no matter how thoroughly destroyed, his power never fades. Vegeta approaches and admits he never intended to fight. He tells Goku to go all out. Goku confesses he needs a full minute to gather ki for a finishing blow and wishes they still had the Potara. Buu regenerates again, taunting them, and Vegeta volunteers to buy that minute.
