The Spirit Bomb stalls as ordinary citizens refuse to believe the mysterious voice asking for their energy. Vegeta's threats only make things worse, and Goku's heartfelt pleas barely move the needle. Only when Mr. Satan steps in and claims responsibility does the entire population of Earth finally contribute, causing the Spirit Bomb to swell to an enormous size.
Goku confirms the Spirit Bomb is nowhere near powerful enough. Aside from their small circle of allies, almost nobody on Earth has contributed energy. Vegeta resorts to yelling threats at the population, but his tone only makes things worse. One man raises his hands, but the draining sensation frightens him. He declares it a devil's trap and warns everyone to stay away. Meanwhile, Kid Buu continues pummeling Good Buu, who is on the verge of death.
Kid Buu prepares to deliver a finishing blow. In desperation, Mr. Satan hurls a rock at the monster. The stone barely annoys Kid Buu, but when he turns toward Mr. Satan, he catches sight of the forming Spirit Bomb.
Vegeta tells Goku to address the people while he stalls for time. He confronts Kid Buu directly but is punched in the stomach and grabbed by the hair. Goku cries out to the planet, begging for their energy. In the Sacred Land of Korin, a grown-up Upa and his gray-haired father Bora recognize Goku's voice and raise their hands. Android 17 lifts a hand, noting it has been a long time since he heard that voice. Hatchan, Suno, and the people of Jingle Village also contribute eagerly.
Most civilians still suspect a trick. Buu batters Vegeta relentlessly as Goku grows desperate. His angry outburst only makes people more reluctant. Fed up with the stalemate, Mr. Satan roars at the planet to contribute their power. Everyone instantly recognizes the World Champion's voice. Mr. Satan claims he is fighting Buu and needs their strength, quietly apologizing to Goku for taking credit. The ploy works perfectly. Every person on Earth raises their hands, chanting Satan's name, and massive orbs of energy surge skyward. The Spirit Bomb swells to a tremendous size, and Goku tells Vegeta to get clear.
