Vegeta's Own Path

Goku lies exhausted after his brief brush with Ultra Instinct. Vegeta, still fighting Top, seethes that Goku has once again broken his limits first. He releases a surge of energy that blows Top off the ring onto debris. Beerus notes that Vegeta's aura has changed. Vegeta turns on Jiren, who shakes off the assault but acknowledges that Vegeta was concealing his true power during his bout with Top.

Vegeta tells Jiren that Saiyans evolve as they fight and his power from minutes ago is already meaningless. When Jiren asks if Vegeta is pursuing Ultra Instinct, the prince refuses outright, declaring it does not suit him. He has never had a master and has forged every ounce of strength through solo training. Jiren praises Vegeta as the hardest-fighting opponent he has faced besides Ultra Instinct Goku, then appears behind him and reasserts dominance.

Stranding the Pride Troopers

Frieza corners Top on a crumbling section of the arena and taunts him for relying on Jiren. Dyspo, exhausted from fighting Android 17, comes to Top's aid, but Frieza leaps to the main platform and destroys every piece of connecting debris. Top tells Dyspo to leave him, but Dyspo lacks the stamina to jump back. He calls out to Jiren for help. Jiren stares at his teammates, says nothing, and tells them to watch from the bench as the rubble crumbles and both are eliminated.

Android 17's Sacrifice

Frieza transforms into Golden Frieza and stalls Jiren while the central pillar continues to shrink. Jiren sees through the strategy and nearly blasts both Frieza and Android 17 off the arena, though 17 manages to land on floating rubble. Realizing he is hopelessly outmatched, 17 asks Krillin and Android 18 to look after his family. Android 18 calmly agrees, and 17 detonates himself in a desperate attempt to take Jiren down. The explosion obliterates half the remaining arena, but Jiren survives unscathed. The Grand Minister rules the tournament continues since 17 gave up his life willingly. Goku vows not to let his friends down and reignites Ultra Instinct Sign. Jiren powers up to meet him.
