Goku reawakens Ultra Instinct Sign and pushes Jiren harder than before, eventually ascending to Perfected Ultra Instinct. Though he dominates the fight initially, the strain of an untrained transformation catches up. After losing the form, Vegeta catches him, and the two Saiyans learn the truth behind Jiren's solitary drive: the wish to resurrect his fallen master, Gicchin.
Jiren finally takes Goku seriously as the Saiyan re-enters Ultra Instinct Sign. The rematch is fiercer than the first encounter; Goku holds his ground far better, though he still cannot land a clean strike. Whis explains that Goku keeps standing because he continues to sink deeper into the state, letting his body move without conscious thought. Jiren notes how relaxed Goku appears, and Goku confirms he has shed all unnecessary emotion. When Jiren escalates his power, Goku closes his eyes and completes the transformation into Perfected Ultra Instinct, his hair turning silver. He drives a devastating punch into Jiren's abdomen, dropping the Pride Trooper to his knees as the Gods of Destruction stare in disbelief.
Jiren rises and resumes his assault, yet every blow misses. Goku knocks him down a second time. From a dust cloud, Jiren fires a massive blast that Vegeta narrowly dodges, but Goku sidesteps it with ease and launches a Supreme Kamehameha downward, blasting Jiren through the arena. Jiren barely avoids elimination by gripping the stage edge. Whis warns that Jiren is already adapting while Goku's body suffers cumulative strain from reacting on instinct without proper training.
Jiren finally lands a clean hit, and Goku's silver aura vanishes. Vegeta catches him before he falls off the edge. Jiren reveals his wish would be to resurrect his master Gicchin, slain long ago by a demon. Top explains that Gicchin never recognized Jiren as his successor, and the grief still haunts him.
Vegeta taunts Jiren over his selfish wish, provoking a furious charge. With fewer than three minutes remaining, he orders Goku to stand and fight, noting Jiren has weakened considerably. The two Saiyans battle in perfect synchronization, pushing Jiren back. Belmod reveals that Gicchin recommended Jiren to the Pride Troopers specifically so the loner would learn teamwork. Watching the coordinated assault, Beerus asks Whis whether all his training with the Saiyans was designed for this. Whis confirms they never even realized they were being taught combination tactics.
