Overview

Within the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade and card game system, player-created Hero Avatars begin at a base class with limited abilities. Class-up represents the first major milestone in the avatar progression system, granting a meaningful increase in combat statistics alongside visual upgrades that signal the character's advancement.

The promotion affects each race differently. Saiyan avatars, both male and female, unlock the ability to transform into Super Saiyan 2 upon achieving Class-up. This mirrors the progression seen in the main Dragon Ball series, where Super Saiyan 2 represents a significant leap above the original Super Saiyan form. Other avatar races, including Majin, Frieza Clan, Namekian, Android, and Shinjin types, each receive their own equivalent transformation and power increase tailored to their species.

All avatars also receive updated wardrobes as part of the Class-up process. These new outfits serve a dual purpose: they provide a visual indicator of the player's progress through the game's ranking system, and they distinguish Class-up avatars from base-level characters during multiplayer encounters. The one exception is the Dark Demon God avatar type, whose appearance remains completely unchanged after Class-up. For these characters, the promotion is purely mechanical, boosting their stats without any cosmetic alteration.

In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, the Class-up system was rebranded. What was called Class-up in the original Dragon Ball Heroes became "Super Class-up" or simply "Super Class" in World Mission. For Saiyan avatars, reaching this tier through Shenron wishes unlocks the Super Saiyan 2 special ability. Class-up sits at the bottom of a long progression chain that eventually leads through Super Class-up, God Class-up, Super God Class-up, Ultimate Class-up Sign, and finally Ultimate Class-up at the very top.
