Tokiwa provided background art and art direction for Dragon Ball Z, contributing to critical story arcs including the Cell Games Saga, Other World Saga, Great Saiyaman Saga, World Tournament Saga, Babidi Saga, and Fusion Saga. His background work helped shape the entire Dragon Ball GT run, handling Magic House backgrounds across 32 episodes and continuing through the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga, Baby Saga, Super 17 Saga, and Shadow Dragon Saga.
Tokiwa's background art credits extend to two Dragon Ball films: Dead Zone and Lord Slug. His broader career includes significant background work on One Piece, where he worked on over 200 episodes and multiple films, as well as Saint Seiya Omega and various magical girl anime.
