Eric Vale

Eric Vale became a cornerstone of the Funimation Dragon Ball dub, anchoring the franchise with his distinctive announcer voice throughout the entire series while also bringing depth to Future Trunks and adult Trunks. His versatility shines in the contrast between these roles; the Tournament Announcer's booming, energetic delivery kept fans engaged through countless martial arts competitions, while his portrayal of Trunks captured both the warrior's determination and vulnerability across different timelines and ages. Vale's work extended beyond character voices into direction and writing for the dub, shaping how the English-speaking audience experienced Dragon Ball.

Vale adopted his stage name in 2001 after joining a union that already had an Eric Johnson on its roster, and has since built an extensive career in anime voice acting and ADR direction for Funimation. Beyond Dragon Ball, he voiced Sanji in One Piece, Solf J. Kimblee in Fullmetal Alchemist, and Yuki Sohma in Fruits Basket, earning recognition as one of the industry's most reliable character actors. His behind-the-scenes contributions as a writer and director have also proven integral to the quality of English anime dubs.
