Samaro

The Samaro are an insectoid species native to Earth in the Dragon Ball universe. Larger than the average human, these bug-like creatures possess the imposing size and aggressive temperament that make them a genuine hazard to anyone exploring the wilds of Dragon Ball's version of our planet. In a world where dinosaurs, giant fish, and anthropomorphic animals coexist with human civilization, the Samaro fit right in as yet another species that makes Earth's wilderness far more dangerous than it appears.

The species comes in at least two distinct types. Fossil Samaro are green-colored specimens, while Big Saw Samaro display blue coloring. Whether these represent true subspecies, different maturity stages, or regional variants remains unclear, as the creatures have never been explored in detail outside of their role as hostile wildlife encounters.

Samaro appear exclusively in Dragon Ball Online, the MMORPG set in the Age 1000 era of the Dragon Ball timeline, centuries after the events of the main series. By this point in the timeline, Earth has undergone dramatic changes, with humans, Namekians, and Majins coexisting as playable races and various hostile creatures populating the overworld as enemies for players to battle.

The Samaro serve as part of this enemy ecosystem, representing the kind of dangerous wildlife that low to mid-level players would encounter during their adventures. Their presence helps establish that even in an era where martial arts and ki training have become widespread among Earth's population, the natural world still produces creatures capable of threatening the unwary.

The Samaro join a long list of monstrous creatures that populate Dragon Ball's Earth, from the pterodactyls of Mount Paozu to the dinosaurs of the wastelands. Their insectoid nature makes them somewhat unusual in the Dragon Ball bestiary, which tends to favor reptilian and mammalian creatures over arthropods.

No individual Samaro has ever been named or given personality. They exist purely as environmental hazards within the Dragon Ball Online game world, contributing to the sense that Dragon Ball's Earth is a planet teeming with dangerous life at every scale, from microscopic to enormous.
