Stand Growth

Stand Growth covers an inconsistent pattern in which a Stand changes appearance or capability because its user has grown older or younger. Since a Stand is bound to its owner in both body and mind, shifts in the user's age tend to ripple into the Stand, but the outcome depends on how the aging happened. The phenomenon sits next to the separate idea of Stand Evolution, and because Hirohiko Araki never addressed it directly, its effects vary from case to case.

Different aging methods leave different marks. Alessi's Sethan turns people younger by touch, and when it shrank Jean Pierre Polnareff into a small child, his Silver Chariot dwindled and weakened alongside him, yet never disappeared because Polnareff was born with it. Used on Jotaro Kujo, who only gained his Stand at seventeen, Sethan reverted him to age seven and stripped Star Platinum away, though he may simply have forgotten how to summon it.

Prosciutto's The Grateful Dead ages by direct contact rather than proximity: Guido Mista's colony Stand Sex Pistols showed no change until it was touched, then shrank and froze, while Bruno Bucciarati's Sticky Fingers kept its look but slowed enough to be outmaneuvered. Ball Breaker's aging of Funny Valentine left Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap permanently altered, shedding armor and its bunny ears without losing power, a permanence some tie to the different Stand rules of the Steel Ball Run continuity. Plain, natural aging barely touches a Stand, yielding only minor stat drift and small visual tweaks, as seen with Star Platinum's lengthening boots, Hierophant Green growing alongside Kakyoin, and Echoes Act 3's quietly shifting parameters.

The pattern has surfaced across many well-known Stands and their owners, among them Polnareff's Silver Chariot, Jotaro's Star Platinum, Mista's Sex Pistols, Bucciarati's Sticky Fingers, Valentine's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Kakyoin's Hierophant Green, and Koichi's Echoes. Because users born with their Stands, such as Muhammad Avdol and Noriaki Kakyoin, carry them from the start, they would likely retain their Stands at any age even if turned younger.
