With Megumi's domain cancelling Dagon's guaranteed hit, the cornered sorcerers finally strike back and chase a way out of the curse's prison. Their planned escape goes sideways when a second uninvited figure drops through the breach Megumi tore open.
By forcing his own expansion into Dagon's coastal trap, Megumi switches off the unavoidable strikes that had been shredding his allies. Freed from that handicap, Nanami, Maki, and Naobito mount a real offensive against the special grade curse. The group sets up an exit through a hole Megumi carves in the barrier, but the moment of escape is hijacked when someone unexpected follows the student inside.
A spiral of shadow lifts Megumi above the domain's ocean, where he spots Dagon and pegs the octopus-shaped curse as the domain's master. As Dagon moves to swat him, Maki swings Playful Cloud and lops off a piece of the curse's arm, stunning him with the first real wound he has taken, then knocks him sliding across the water. Dagon grasps that the certain hit has been voided and resolves to crush Megumi in the resulting domain tug-of-war. Nanami leaps across Megumi's toads to carve apart the fish Dagon sends and asks after Yuji and Ino while shielding the boy so he can hold the expansion.
Naobito then blurs in behind the curse, surviving Death Swarm just as Nanami had. Dagon spawns eel-like shikigami to push the pair off, but Naobito pins one in a projection frame and crushes it underfoot. Megumi admits he is at his limit and reveals the true plan: rather than win the domain battle, he is opening a gap in the barrier, betting Dagon cannot expand twice in one day. Nanami signals the Zenins to converge, and a hole forms beneath Megumi leading out. Everyone gathers to flee, but before they can slip through, Toji Fushiguro climbs in through the opening, forcing them all to face the bare presence of the one who is free.
This installment closes out the fight against Dagon and belongs to the Shibuya Incident arc, set inside the curse's domain under Shibuya Station. Featured techniques include Megumi's Chimera Shadow Garden, his Ten Shadows summon Toad, Nanami's Ratio Technique, Naobito's Projection Sorcery, and the cursed tool Playful Cloud. Pages 13 through 19 carry into Episode 39, while the earlier portion appears in Episode 38.
