Tamashiro

Dark markings ring Tamashiro's brown eyes, and his blond hair sits in a permanent mess above them. His teeth are pointed and sharp. He is a small boy, no larger than the rest of his class.

Arrogance is Tamashiro's default setting. He is brash, a little defiant of authority, and enormously proud of how strong and how fast his Quirk is, which has inflated his opinion of himself to the point that he cheerfully lectures others about their errors and their attitudes in a manner that would be familiar to anyone who has met Katsuki Bakugo.

Behind the swagger is a boy who genuinely wants to be a hero, and who is warmer than he first lets on. Standoffish though he is, there is a playful streak in him and a real willingness to lend a hand when it counts.

Tamashiro's class served as the test itself when Camie Utsushimi, Inasa Yoarashi, Shoto Todoroki, and Katsuki returned for a second run at their Provisional Hero Licenses, every one of them but Camie having failed the first attempt on social grounds. Once Gang Orca explained the arrangement, the children stormed the hall, and Tamashiro joined the pile-on that caught Inasa off guard. He then took to punting Katsuki's gauntlet around the room while Katsuki shouted warnings about how dangerous that was, stopping only when a friend distracted him with a ball. When Inasa asked which of them dreamed of hero work, his hand went up.

The turn came while the four candidates were still debating how to manage a room of children. Tamashiro announced that his parents had told him how things really stood, that the kids had the upper hand here, and the class opened up with their Quirks. His own Binging Balls stripped the right side off Katsuki's mask while he crowed about their speed and power. Once the four finally combined their abilities and won the room over, he was on the slide Shoto had built out of ice, to the loud envy of classmates who did not get a turn. Afterward he pointed out that his Quirk would be handy for clearing up the mess, and Shoto's reply, that he would excel at urban disaster rescue, plainly delighted him. When the day wrapped up, he joined the rest of the class in thanking the heroes.

When public faith in heroes buckled once the Paranormal Liberation War ended, with ruined cities everywhere, villains at large, and Dabi's broadcast tearing open Endeavor's past, Tamashiro and his friends did not waver. Shoto and the others, they figured, could handle whatever came.

The collapse of hero society eventually drove the Masegaki students and staff to shelter at U.A. As the Final War began, the civilians were moved into the Underground Evacuation Center running along the U.A. to Shiketsu High line. Komari Ikoma, minding the children, warned them a villain might reach them; Tamashiro told her it was fine, because Shoto and Katsuki were not going to lose. The block watched the battles against All For One and Tomura Shigaraki play out on a tablet, and the children's nerve began to slip as the heroes were beaten down, right before the feed cut and the lights failed. All For One's infiltrators had wrecked the foundations, the block came apart, and everyone was ordered up top, where U.A.'s robots waited and where they emerged into the appalling heat of Dabi's Blueflames building toward something close to a nuclear detonation.

Riding out of the blast radius, Komari promised the children it would be all right, and Tamashiro readily agreed, since Shoto was still out there, and the tablet showed him and Tenya tearing across the landscape toward it. He was proven right. Shoto reached the fire in time and swallowed it in ice until it guttered out, and the students wept with relief as the sky cleared above them. They kept watching after that, through All Might's duel with All For One, through All Might's defeat and the villain hauling him to U.A. so the planet could witness the Symbol of Peace die, an ending Tamashiro and everyone else feared would close an era, until Katsuki tore him out of All For One's grip.
