Team-Up Missions: The Prequel

Some time after All Might steps down, the Hero Public Safety Commission convenes a press conference. Its President warns that villainy will surge in the vacuum and argues the working Pros must operate alongside the generation coming up behind them, unveiling a student initiative called Team-Up Missions. Hawks scoffs that the Pros have weightier concerns, gets cut off for his tone, and clarifies he never refused to take part. The other attending heroes are enthusiastic. The President frames the project as nationwide and presses every school and agency to return a participation form before the cutoff.

All Might, back at U.A. High School, checks with Shota Aizawa about signing on and gets confirmation. He is eager to break the news to the students until he remembers the form is still sitting at school and the cutoff is five that afternoon. He grabs a cab, spots an elderly man being mugged en route, briefly weighs walking past, and of course intervenes, bulking up to scare off the robber and promptly getting mobbed by bystanders. By the time he escapes, the driver puts the remaining trip at over an hour thanks to traffic and accidents, so All Might runs the rest of the way for his students' sake. He arrives on schedule and finds the office shut, blames his watch, then blames himself for costing the class an opportunity. He phones Shota to confess, only to learn Shota had scanned and filed the thing digitally days earlier and kept the original at U.A. for reference. Told gently that he overextends himself, All Might thanks him.

The next day All Might tells Class 1-A that their Provisional Hero Licenses qualify them all, outlines the program as a way to build teamwork and communication among heroes, and confirms for Tsuyu Asui that Ketsubutsu Academy High School and Shiketsu High School are joining. Assignments are already made, and he distributes envelopes; Izuku is stunned by his teammates while the room erupts in chatter. Afterward Katsuki gripes about his own team until Shoto notes they might be paired eventually, which Katsuki declines to entertain. Later, reviewing the upcoming assignments on a lounge computer, All Might is startled to spot a familiar face heading to U.A. As classmates prepare for their assignments, Izuku turns in for the night thrilled about his first mission.

All Might's desperate dash to deliver U.A.'s participation form proves unnecessary, since Shota had already submitted a digital scan days before.

Class 1-A receives their first mission assignments, and All Might discovers that Melissa Shield will be visiting U.A.

Yoco Akiyama wrote and illustrated the chapter, which ran fifteen pages in Jump Giga Summer Vol.2, the September 2019 issue, on July 25, 2019. It is collected in Volume 1 and leads directly into Chapter 1 of the series.

Naming differs by platform. VIZ Media's online service lists it as Chapter 0.1, while Japan's Shonen Jump+ labels it One-Shot 1.
