Chapter 174

Fired, Mina Ashido clarifies, means moved. Izuku Midoriya is off the dance team because the staging team asked for him. The plan is to run Yuga Aoyama's Quirk as a disco ball, and that takes manpower. Eijiro Kirishima apologizes for the reshuffle. Izuku goes along on one condition, that he still gets a turn to dance.

At 6:30 in the morning he is back on wind pressure with Toshinori Yagi, who warns him off internal bleeding. The shots come freely now; holding control of them at the critical moment does not, and he asks for advice. Toshinori has nothing useful, since using One For All freely was never a problem for him. A ball sails in and he catches it. Mei Hatsume is out testing inventions. She tells Izuku that the item he requested resembles something she already built and that she is customizing it for him, and he thanks her. Once she goes, he admits the request ties into a new technique he has been developing. Toshinori surprises him by revealing that he used support items himself once, though the equipment was too bulky to help him at close range. Reinforcing yourself with gear is a sound strategy, he says, as long as it never becomes the whole plan.

In Heights Alliance, Class 1-A takes a break around a gift from Momo Yaoyorozu's mother, a phantom black tea called Golden Tips Imperial. Ochaco Uraraka offers Izuku a cup, but he is hunting footage of All Might using support items and taps a Gentle video by accident. It covers a premium black tea named Royal Flush, and closes with a promise that the next one will be society's wake up call. Izuku knows the name, is struck that nobody has ever arrested a villain this public, and wonders what he has planned.

Gentle has not stopped working in a week, which worries La Brava, who has not seen him take tea in all that time. As she goes to fetch some, he muses that dissatisfaction with heroes keeps growing because of how feeble minded they have become. U.A.'s preparations impress him; its ability to handle the unpredictable does not. Would the students be caught up in it, she asks. Simply invading the festival is the wake up call, he answers, an invitation to grow stronger, and she finds it magnificent.

He double checks the route on his computer. Empty streets to a park, through it to a solitary house belonging to a seventy year old, where ninety minutes go to tea because Golden Tips Imperial is served there, then a construction site, a hill, and U.A. Ryo Inui patrols the perimeter, so dirt will mask their scent, and at the barrier the network falls to La Brava's hacking, which she does professionally. He praises her support.

The past explains them. Gentle could never work social media, and posting a video by himself drew nothing at all. La Brava hacked her way to his address, turned up at his door as a fan, and offered to help carve his name into history. Together the persona grew, slowly but surely. He pats her head and promises the U.A. infiltration will succeed, not only to secure the world's future but as an answer to her love. She hugs him in tears and declares it outright, and he says the same back and swears the plan will work.

Izuku turns out not to be fired at all, only requested by staging for one stretch of the show.

He keeps drilling his air shots, and mentions a new support item ordered from Mei Hatsume.

All Might discloses that he once used a support item to draw out twenty to thirty percent of his power.

Izuku stumbles onto one of Gentle's videos by accident, while Gentle and La Brava finalize their infiltration route and their first meeting is shown.

Titled Golden Tips Imperial, the chapter runs seventeen pages and appeared on March 12, 2018, in issue 15 of that year. It belongs to volume 19 and the U.A. School Festival arc, with Mina, Izuku, Yuga and Mezo Shoji on the cover.

The anime splits the material: page 9 falls in Episode 82, and the rest in Episode 83.
