Summary

Shoto keeps talking while Tenya strains against the paralysis, humiliated that the two friends he pushed away are the ones shielding him. What surfaces instead is his brother's reason for the job in the first place: there is no better motive than helping people.

Shoto buries fire inside a stream of ice and Stain reads it anyway, sliding clear and scolding the boy for leaning so heavily on his Quirk before raising the katana to cut him. Tenya, on the ground, agrees with every word aimed at himself, a failure next to Izuku and Shoto. Then the hold breaks. He stands because he refuses to be left behind by his classmates or by Tensei, and Recipro Burst drives his leg into the descending blade hard enough to snap it in two. The follow-up kick sends Stain away from Shoto entirely.

The apology comes next. Tenya tells Izuku and Shoto he never wanted his problem bleeding onto them. Stain rejects the turnaround outright: a man's nature is fixed, this one is a counterfeit who serves himself first, and people like him are the rot that Stain exists to cut out. Shoto says ignore him, but Tenya concedes the charge and answers it differently. He cannot quit here, because quitting is what would truly kill Ingenium. The reply enrages the Hero Killer.

Asking Shoto to chill his overheated leg, Tenya has to eat a volley of daggers meant for his classmate and drops again. Izuku, mobile once more, springs off Shoto's ice platform under Full Cowl. Shoto cools the leg, mobility returns, and Recipro Extend launches Tenya into the air. With Shoto urging both of them onward, Izuku's fist finds Stain's face and Tenya's kick finds his stomach.
